Front Leg Lifts in a Stand
Purpose – Highly effective for working on strengthening the postural muscles. Works on adductors, abductors and core strength. Also targets single leg strength to work on any weak areas.

Criteria – Dog can maintain correct stand (no moving feet when leg comes up) without falling over. Dog holds their leg up themselves, as much as possible.

Placement of reward – For this exercise I sit in front of the dog with the food. I also use zen hand (hand open means they are doing it right) to help them to know to be still in a position. I mark when I feel them doing it themselves and then reward while the leg is still up.

Increasing difficulty – Moving to having back legs slightly elevated for extra weight on either front end. Unstable equipment like the Propel air under one or both ends. Also increasing the amount of time held.
